As a former member of the ACGIH Bioaerosols Committee and past chair of the AIHA Indoor Environmental Quality Committee, Dr. Krause has published research on novel control methods to prevent Legionella in building water systems by reducing dissolved oxygen in building hot water systems.

Dr. Toca has long been recognized as a pioneer and expert in the field of environmental health, on matters such as industrial hygiene management, chemical exposure, toxicology, regulatory interpretation, exposure monitoring, and so much more. From 1989-1990, Dr. Toca served as the first African American President of AIHA and in 2001 he was named an AIHA fellow.

In this episode of the Healthier Workplaces Show Podcast, we interview Connect 2026 Upton Sinclair Lecturer Georgia Gee.
Georgia is currently a researcher at The New York Times. Over the last five years, she has been based in New York and East Africa working on projects across print, digital, podcasts and documentaries. As a freelancer, work appeared in Foreign Policy, The Intercept, Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project and WIRED. She has been the recipient of grants from the Pulitzer Center and the Fund for Investigative Journalism.
Georgia spent a year investigating this horrific story of environmental racism and public health neglect. The lead was buried deep. She searched through thousands of documents, archival newspapers and travelled to East Gainesville, Florida to uncover how an elementary school sat on a toxic waste site, and how officials knew and never cleaned it up.
In today’s episode, we will discuss how she came across this story, the reporting process and challenges, including pushback from state agencies, and how in the U.S., this toxic site is not uncommon.

Pam has over 35 years of experience working as an industrial hygienist in multiple settings, including hospitals, schools, and manufacturing. She has worked in the construction industry both as a carpenter and as an industrial hygienist. She served as the Exposure Assessment Program Director for the Center for Construction Research and Training for 23 years. She was involved in efforts that led to changes in city regulations requiring the use of dust controls during construction work in Philadelphia.

She works with clients in a wide range of industries to help identify and mitigate business and operational risks.
